“The Sensitive Gaze occupies a fluid space between sculpture and painting via stoneware, squidgy things and Mumsnet. You don’t realise you need gay bendy stoneware until you experience it in the same font as you used to sketch out words in the back of your school book to see what power they held; gay, bender, lesbo, pufta, queer, dyke. Turns out these words are both ridiculous and powerful and we reclaim them to reclaim a sense of self which was left behind.
This exhibition chews on bendy symbols, candy coated- slightly out of reach- memories and gets stuck on your shoe like bubblegum as you go on a bender between sculpture and painting.”
